THE SET UP FOR THE WIN
How often did you roll out of bed this week feeling like you were running around for the first few hours of your day?
-scrambling to get a decent breakfast
-getting your kids ready for school
-answering texts from the night before
-checking your inbox for the reply that will change your day
or the multitude of other things that stress you out as your day starts.
It happens to us all and it will affect your mental, emotional and physical composure.
But your quality of life and peace of mind deserve better.
If you grew up watching Rocky and his egg chugging ritual, before he went out for his roadwork session to start his day, that's DEF not what I'm talking about.
But it can be that simple.
The important concepts with having a morning routine is three fold:
-building inner resolve aka self-discipline
-starting the day with a win...mentally and physically
creating momentum for your day
-taking care of yourself FIRST before you go out to take care of others...aka fill up your pitcher before you serve
So you're probably thinking, where do I start with having a morning routine?
The first place to start, and probably the most challenging for some, is to decide to get up earlier than usual. Ditch the concept, "go BIG or go home."! With this initial step towards winning your day, you want to start small. Set your alarm clock for 15 minutes earlier than usual. Complete that for a week, then increase according to what feels good for you.
I've gotten to a point where I have, at the very least, an hour to myself every morning.
Are there going to be days where you don't feel like rolling out of bed, absolutely. Do your best to not go 2 days in a row of staying in your comfort zone. Getting up early is uncomfortable, especially when it's single digit degrees outside.
But if you live in a warm climate, that's one less excuse to stay in bed.
After you've gone 21 days of consistently getting up earlier than usual, appreciate the huge step in improving your QL&PM (Quality of Life & Peace of Mind). You have conquered a major obstacle in the morning routine set-up.
