THE 7 LEVELS OF ENERGY
Energy is not just about how many calories you take in and how your body uses it.
It’s not just about paying your electric bill to power up your lights and appliances.
Your overall energy determines your overall abilities in life... and how much energy you have available for a particular task, activity or situation varies.
There are two kinds of energy that we want to be aware of…
Some of you know it as positive vs negative energy or good vs bad energy.
I challenge you to think of energy as anabolic vs catabolic, especially when it comes to your health, well-being, habits and lifestyle.
When we acknowledge energy as “anabolic”, it just doesn’t build muscle.
Anabolic energy stirs up creative, constructive and life building thoughts, emotions and actions.
When someone is experiencing anabolic energy they are fully engaged in finding a solution to whatever challenge or obstacle that might be in their way.
Conversely, when someone experiences catabolic energy, they see only the “problem” and points fingers in blame or has thoughts of, “why me?”, “I can’t believe this is happening”, “just my luck.”
“Catabolic” energy is draining, destructive and resistive in nature, causing us to be “stuck”, apathetic or in fight or flight mode.
Take a moment to step back here and think about where either one of these energies shows up in your mission of changing your lifestyle.
With this awareness of energy and how it affects us, let’s take one step further to understand that there are 7 levels of energy that we experience when we have a specific scenario presented to us.
These levels are vital in understanding how we handle (or not) the circumstances at hand.
Here is a quick breakdown of the energy levels that we all experience:
-𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝟏: Feeling lost. Stuck. Lack of choice. I can’t. I have to. Fearful.
-𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝟐: Anger. Combativeness. Resisting or fighting energy.
-𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝟑: Rationalizing. Fine. Coping.
-𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝟒: Care. Compassion. Service to others.
-𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝟓: Reconciliation. Win-win. Solution-focused.
-𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝟔: Intuition. Creative genius. Visionary.
-𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝟕: Absolute Passion. Non-judgment. Oneness.
Levels 1 and 2 are catabolic, while levels 3-7 are anabolic. The key with understanding these levels of energy is that we are NOT pre-destined to live at any one specific level at all times of our life. The truth is that we are completely able to choose what level we want to show up with in any circumstance.

Just to give more of a concrete idea of how anabolic and catabolic energy “shows up”…it all starts with the way you talk to yourself; your internal dialogue, aka self-talk.
Anabolic language sounds like: I want to, choose to, am willing to, desire to, intend to, I will, it matters to me, it is important to me, it is critical, urgent, exciting.
Catabolic language shows up as: I should, have to, need to, hopefully, am not sure, don’t know how, perhaps, maybe, must, always, never, there’s no way.
Here’s a little mental challenge for you this weekend as you go about your day.
Take note of what your self-talk is saying.
Don’t even worry about changing it or judging it.
Just acknowledge your inner dialogue so that you can at least open up the possibility of choosing how you want to show up for yourself, and the healthy lifestyle you want.
